Generally, the darker the glass, the harder it is.
Slides made of Darker glass (seen above) produce a brighter, sharper tone.
Since this harder glass produces more volume as well, dark colored slides are ideal for acoustic and resophonic instruments.
But you don't have to take our word for it! If you are currently using a metal, ceramic or porcelain slide on your acoustic or resophonic guitar,
we want you to try a Mr. B's dark glass slide ...you will love the difference or we will give you a full refund!
Clear glass however, is much softer and therefore produces more sustain.
Accordingly, Clear bottlenecks tend to sound more bell-like and are thus recommended for use on electric guitars.
